Multi-fiber optical cabling solutions / AFL solutions

The volume of data flowing within and outside data centers continues to increase. As transmission speeds and capacities accelerate, the adoption of optical cabling within data centers is advancing, with optical cabling now supporting the core operations of data centers.
Furthermore, with the expansion and decentralization of data centers, interconnections between data centers are rapidly increasing.
Optical cabling for data centers must meet diverse requirements: high reliability, high quality, flexibility, scalability, high density/space efficiency, and ease of management. As a pioneer in optical fiber technology, Fujikura offers optimal optical cabling solutions for everything from internal data center cabling to inter-data center interconnections, leveraging our extensive product lineup and expertise.

MDC/MMC Solutions

High-density patch panels incorporating MDC/MMC adapters—next-generation ultra-small form factor (VSFF) optical connectors—achieve three times the port density of Duplex LC/MPO connectors. Connections within the panel support fusion splicing or optical connector methods. This provides a convenient optical cabling solution that reduces complex work across a wide range of scenarios.

MPO Cabling System

Cabling systems using 12-fiber MPO (12MPO) connectors feature all products pre-terminated with optical connectors. This allows the construction of an optical cabling system simply by connecting products via their optical connectors, enabling rapid installation. Furthermore, using 12MPO connectors significantly reduces wiring volume. Should a cable become damaged, fusion-type field-terminated optical connectors allow for quick restoration.

AFL solutions

AFL is a wholly owned subsidiary of Fujikura, primarily responsible for manufacturing and selling optical fiber cables and optical components for the North American market. AFL offers a lineup of globally certified DC construction products (e.g., optical termination frames, trunk cables, patch cords, optical fiber cables) certified by North America's HSDC. Within Japan, Fujikura handles the sales of AFL products.

Customer Challenges We Address

  • Space-saving

High-density cabling increases wiring volume, necessitating space allocation. To meet the demand for efficient use of limited space, we offer products with reduced diameters and compact sizes.

  • Improved Maintainability

It supports various transmission methods and facilitates conversion between them. Additionally, combining different products enables network expansion.

  • Quick Installation

Terminals are equipped with optical connectors, allowing network construction simply by inserting or removing the connectors. Furthermore, efficient cleaning of connection points helps reduce installation time.
